How JAWS Helps Visually Impaired Agents

A new feature in Ytel Contact Center allows the visually impaired to work more efficiently on computers with the assistance of the JAWS screen reader.

We've made it our mission at Ytel to develop features and products that our customers need and see value in. We've had a few customers inquire about implementing the JAWS feature into the X5 Agent dashboard, and we were happy to do so. Learn more about JAWS and what it can offer your agents and your business in this post!

JAWS (Job Access with Speech) is the world's most popular screen reader, developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse. JAWS provides speech and Braille output for the most popular computer applications on a PC.

This feature will be great for customers and users of Ytel Contact Center who are visually impaired or blind. How JAWS works is simple. Agents download the software onto their PC and install it. Once they log in to their agent dashboard, JAWS will begin working. Agents can hover over modules and the screen reader will read whatever text is there.

JAWS also read links and other URLs, so agents will be notified by the screen reader if a link is included in that particular module of text. The reader will simply say "link" when reading it. JAWS is streamlining the way people with vision loss can use computers in the workplace and at home easily.

At Ytel, if our customers express the need for a particular feature or add-on, we're happy to implement it! Bringing value and support to your business and your agents is what Ytel Contact Center, and all our products, are all about.
