Let's face it - it's difficult to get everyone on board for leadership meetings. They can be long and extraneous, and often times, similar to pulling teeth. There are ways to spice these meetings up and get your leadership team more inclined to join with enthusiasm. Today we're sharing a few tips to amp up meetings and get everybody involved. Amp Up Leadership Meetings in 5 Easy Steps

1. Set a time limit

A time limit will show your colleagues that you aren't forcing them into an afternoon of torture; just an hour or two of company-wide updates and getting everyone on the same page. Having a start and stop time will allow attendees to plan accordingly; what they have to get done up til the time of the meeting, and anything going on afterwards.

2. Cut 15 minutes off meeting time

Whatever time allotment you set for this meeting in #1, shorten it by 15 minutes on your calendar. Instead of an hour or two, cutting 15 minutes off the end of that meeting will have everyone leaving happy. Getting out earlier than they expected to is always a treat, even for adults. They'll be more likely to have a positive attitude for next time, knowing that it wasn't long and painful!

3. Provide snacks

Or, if the budget allows, treat them to a healthy catered lunch. If you're serving snacks, offer low glycemic options that are high in fiber, protein and healthy fats so nobody crashes and burns mid-meeting, and they can sustain their energy throughout the meeting. Try hummus, fruit & veggies, beef jerky, coffee, tea and sparkling waters. While you're at it, check out some awesome snack subscription services here!

4.  Ditch the Powerpoint

While notes can help you stay on track, a full blown Powerpoint will seem daunting and ridiculous to most of your team. You should already know enough about the subject at hand to discuss it; you don't need the slides... it's just more noise! The more slides, the more time it'll take to get through the meeting. Instead, have a few focused bullet points that each person needs to cover and give them an allotted amount of time to discuss their talking points. Everything else should fall by the wayside.

5. Tuesdays at 3pm

According to LifeHacker, Tuesday at 3pm is the most ideal time for any meeting. If you can, elect this as the designated leadership meeting time every month. People's brains are working in the highest gear, it isn't a Monday, Friday isn't close enough yet to be mentally checked out, and they're still feeling productive and functional. Tuesday it is! You can also try taking a poll to see what day and time your leadership team actually prefers to hold these meetings, as this will make them feel like they have somewhat of a voice in the matter.
